Starting this Saturday April 22, aka EARTH DAY, aka RECORD STORE DAY, Dooryard Summer Wheat Ale will be available on tap and in bottles at The Picaroons Roundhouse, The Brewtique in Downtown Fredericton, The Picaroons General Store in Uptown Saint John, and The 5 Kings Restaurant & Picaroons Brewhouse in St. Stephen. It will start shipping to the rest of the world (the world = New Brunswick!) on Monday April 24th.
….AND TO CELEBRATE, we’re opening the doors to our new events space at our brewery and inviting you all to take part in some DOORYARD festivities! We’ll have some great local snacks provided by our Locavore Foods friends, we’ll have some washer toss, we’ll have some folks from the Urban Teaching Farm project around, we’ll have some folks from The Ville Cooperatives Community Gardening Initiatives around, we’ll be spinning records, and we’ll have lots of FRESH Dooryard on hand. And In the spirit of Record Store Day, we’ll be giving out coupons for $2 off at Backstreet Records and Second Spin with purchase of a Dooryard.
AND CHECK OUT THIS NEW LABEL…
Illustrated by the talented Lise Hansen from Bonfire Stories, this image is inspired by an actual photo we found at the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick (*Credit line: George Taylor fond P5-479). Simply entitled “Musicians on a raft, playing banjos on the river above Fredericton”, the photo was almost definitely taken in the 1890s, and there’s a decent chance that it was taken in 1898, but the evidence suggesting that specific year is circumstantial. The men are unidentified, though we certainly know it is on the Saint John River! We added our own creative twist as we envision these two guys on a raft overlooking our very own Dooryard behind the brewery, complete with the Fredericton Walking Bridge in the background. We of course assume they were drinking beer at the time. (*We can’t thank Lise enough for all of her handy work on this!!!)
